Terms of use

Last updated: October 11, 2026

Purpose

These terms of use govern access to and use of the adoptya.com website and the Adoptya app, published by ADOPTYA, a French SAS with a share capital of €1,000, registered with the Colmar Trade and Companies Register under number 108 731 027, whose registered office is at 101 Rue de la Fabrique, 68530 Buhl, France.

By creating an account or using the app, you fully accept these terms of use.

Description of the service

Adoptya is a platform that connects animal shelters, animal welfare associations and professionals with individuals who wish to adopt an animal ("pet parents").

The app lets you browse animal profiles, chat with shelters and associations through built-in messaging, and track the progress of an adoption request.

Registration requirements for pet parents

To create a pet parent account, you must be an adult (at least 18 years old) with full legal capacity.

You agree to provide accurate, complete and up-to-date information, and to update it if it changes.

Registration requirements for shelters and associations

Shelter and association accounts may only be created by legally established and registered organizations, represented by a person duly authorized to act on their behalf.

The organization agrees to provide accurate information about its identity and activity, to comply with the regulations on the protection, keeping and rehoming of animals, and to publish animal profiles that reflect reality (health, temperament, needs).

ADOPTYA reserves the right to verify the information provided and to refuse or suspend an account if there is any doubt about its accuracy.

Account and security

You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for all activity carried out from your account. In case of unauthorized use, you must inform ADOPTYA immediately at contact@adoptya.com.

Code of conduct

You agree to use the app fairly and respectfully. The following are prohibited in particular: abusive, discriminatory or threatening language, publishing false or misleading content, identity theft, unauthorized commercial use of the service, and any attempt to sell or traffic animals.

Contact details you access through the app may only be used for an adoption process or the follow-up of an animal.

Adoptya's role in adoptions

ADOPTYA acts solely as a technical intermediary. Adoptions are concluded directly between the shelter or association and the pet parent, under each organization's own conditions (questionnaire, visit, adoption contract, any adoption fees).

The final adoption decision rests solely with the shelter or association. ADOPTYA is not a party to the adoption contract and does not guarantee that a request will succeed.

Published content

Users are solely responsible for the content they publish (texts, photos, messages). By publishing it, they guarantee that they hold the rights to it and authorize ADOPTYA to display it on the website and the app for the purposes of the service.

ADOPTYA reserves the right to remove any content that breaches these terms or the law.

Intellectual property

The Adoptya brand, the website, the app and all their elements (texts, logos, graphics, source code) are the exclusive property of ADOPTYA. Any reproduction or use without prior written authorization is prohibited.

Personal data

How your personal data is processed is described in our privacy policy, available from the website footer.

Liability

ADOPTYA does its best to keep the service accessible and working properly, but cannot guarantee permanent availability or that it is free of errors.

ADOPTYA cannot be held responsible for information published by users, for exchanges between them, or for the consequences of an adoption, in particular an animal's health or behavior.

Account suspension and deletion

If these terms are breached, ADOPTYA may suspend or delete an account, without notice where the seriousness of the breach justifies it.

You can ask for your account to be deleted at any time by writing to contact@adoptya.com.

Changes to the terms

ADOPTYA may change these terms at any time. Users will be informed of significant changes, and continuing to use the service means accepting the new terms.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, the parties will first seek an amicable solution. Consumers may also use a consumer mediator free of charge. Failing agreement, the French courts shall have jurisdiction.
